Aquatics & Park Supervisor

This position oversees operations of an 18-acre beachfront park as well as an indoor 8 lane, 13 foot dive well community pool located in the Cambridge Elementary School.
General Description:
The Aquatics & Park Supervisor oversees the planning, implementing, administering, supervising, instructing and evaluating of various recreation and aquatic programs/activities related to the Cambridge Area Community Pool and Ripley Park. Performs related work as required, including the supervision of department staff and volunteers.
This position reports to the CAP Executive Director. The office for this position is located in the Cambridge Area Community Pool; however, travel between locations is required.
Duties/ Responsibilities:

- Responsible for all operations of the Cambridge Area Community Pool and Ripley Park
- Responsible for the direct supervision of both the Pool and the Park Manager and the indirect supervision of the lifeguards, swim instructors/coaches, and seasonal park staff which includes: gatehouse workers, concession stand workers and grounds and maintenance workers.
- Lead monthly aquatics staff meetings, as well as annual spring in-services for lifeguard, swim instructor and park employees.
- Responsible for all staffing decisions of all aquatics and park staff with input from the Executive Director.
- Responsible for maintaining records and reports.
- Responsible for purchasing and maintaining inventory of all aquatic and park supplies and maintenance equipment
- Program and coordinate two seasons of swim team.
- Work with Community Outreach and Communications Coordinator to market the Cambridge Pool and Ripley Park, including maintaining social media presence.
- Work with school district staff to coordinate use of the pool for physical education and Summer School swim lessons.
- Maintain effective public relations with the Cambridge School District, Cambridge Foundation, and many other businesses and community organizations.
- Enforce policies to maintain the physical appearance of the pool and Ripley Park.
- Recruit, maintain, and market pool memberships, park passes, and park shelter rentals.
- Research and write grants to support the pool.
- Develop and manage the aquatics and Ripley Park budget with the support of the Executive Director.
- Attain and maintain Aquatics Facility Operator and Lifeguard certifications.
- Serve as lead for annual Lake Ripley Ride and the swim course portion of the Try Cambridge Tri (sprint triathlon).
- Knowledgeable in state and county licensing guidelines regarding safe swimming pool operation.
- Responsible for maintaining all pool licensing records as required by the WI state statutes.
- Plan and coordinate special events for the pool and Ripley Park.
- Attend bi-weekly CAP leadership team meetings.
- Ongoing professional development to maintain certifications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or related field; aquatics management preferred.
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, Lifeguard, and Lifeguard Instructor, or ability to attain within the first month of employment.
- Aquatics Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator or willing to attain certification within 6 months
- The following knowledge, experience and skills are desired:
- Skills and ability to promote, implement, and supervise aquatics programs such as swim lessons, water aerobics, open/lap swim, special rental groups and special events.
- Knowledge and experience in aquatics and park facility operations.
- Customer service skills.
- Considerable knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Apps.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with coworkers, subordinates, program participants, and the public.
- Experience in supervising employees, including monitoring work activities, providing training, and evaluating performance.
- Self-starter with experience working independently as well as within a team atmosphere.
- Experience in communicating both verbally and in writing in order to promote recreation/aquatics programs to the community and assist in preparing department brochures.
Hours and Dates: Position is a salaried position and is expected to work 40 – 45 hours per week. Salary range $45,000 - $50,000. This position includes excellent health, dental, and state retirement benefits.

CAP CARE Co-Teacher
General Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of Childcare Operations, the CAP CARE Co-Teacher’s primary function is to assist in the daily operation of CAP CARE and Day Camp. Co-Teachers will be at least a minimum of 18 years old, and be able to work well in a collaborative environment supporting the purpose of CAP CARE which is to provide a safe and educational environment in which children are free to be active, creative and have fun. CAP CARE and Day Camp provide programing for students in grades 3K-4th grade.
General Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position.
- Maintains a positive and safe atmosphere for all attendees and families
- Develop and implement age appropriate curriculum for children
- Assist in daily operations which could include, checking children in & out of the facility, preparing & assisting with snack, providing positive direction for activities, communication with parents & staff
- Help maintain goals for the children
- Perform daily cleaning duties
- Physically able to stand, walk, stoop, and reach. Able to lift, carry, pushing, pulling 10 lbs or less. Able to handle, grasp, chairs, recreational equipment, arts and craft materials
- Works varying hours between 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. with approximately 15-25 hours a week
- Compliance and enforcement of all CAP CARE policies and procedures.
Hours and Dates:
Position is part time / 15-25 hours a week / between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have completed high school or its equivalent
- Have at least 320 hrs. of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a group child care center
- Either two courses for credit in early childhood education or two non-credit department-approved courses
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, or certified within 3 months of hire
- Shaken baby syndrome training, or completed the training prior to working with children
Compensation:
- Competitive pay- $13.00-$18.00 per hour based on education and experience

Ripley Park Grounds

The selected candidates will assist in maintaining the quality and appearance of Ripley Park. Qualified candidates must be able to complete daily tasks and follow the direction of their supervisor. Candidates must be trustworthy and willing to assist any and all other park staff. Ideal candidates will possess a current CPR and first aid certificates.
General Duties:

Principle Activities:
- Operate vehicles and park equipment
- Trimming/mowing
- General clean-up of the park and beach
- Cleaning restrooms, grills, and shelters
- Fill Dispensers- Soap, paper towel, etc
- Removal of brush, limbs, and saplings
- Perform general maintenance duties
- Paint grills, picnic tables, shelters, etc.
- Perform minor plumbing and light maintenance
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be motivated and have a positive attitude
- Assist all other park staff as needed
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Hours and Dates:
Hours and days vary. Example of shift are: weekday mornings 6:30am-10:30am, weekend mornings 7am – 11am, and evenings 5-9pm daily. Must be able to work holidays and rotating weekends. Seasonally May-October
Qualifications:

- Must be motivated and have a positive attitude
- Assist all other park staff as needed
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor
Hours and Dates:
Hours and days vary during our park hours of 9am-8pm. Must be able to work holidays and rotating weekends. Seasonally Memorial day weekend-Labor Day
Qualifications:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (preferred but will train)
