Summer Marketing Intern
General Description:
Cambridge Community Activities Program (CAP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging and promoting life-long wellness by providing a variety of high-quality recreational activities, learning opportunities, aquatics programs, and services to the broad Cambridge area community This internship can provide school credit and offers valuable experience working with a non-profit organizations focusing on marketing.
The internship is a great opportunity for someone looking for a career in the marketing, public relations, advocacy and communications field. Candidate must be energetic,
self-motivated, a team player, results focused, detail oriented, and be dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals. This internship requires a candidate with
confidence in interpersonal communication, solid writing skills, and attention to details.
The role of this internship is to assist the Cambridge Community Activities Program with their marketing needs. This position will have the opportunity to put their learning and knowledge to use while being fully hands on with marketing within all departments including athletics/fitness, aquatics, child care, and park/recreation/youth programming, etc. Students who are currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student may apply. Non-traditional students, retired personnel or individuals looking to enhance or change careers are also eligible to apply. Interns are required to work at least 10 hours a week.
The specific responsibilities of the intern include, but not limited to, the following:
● Assisting in the administration of the day-to-day marketing and communications operation including creating digital marketing material, developing and maintaining the
organization’s website and social media sites, and assessing engagement through surveys, reports, and analytics.
● Assisting with departmental outreach efforts for programs/events and sponsorships.
● Attending a wide variety of programs and special events for photos, video, and social media use-occasional night or weekend hours.
● Assessing, reporting, and recommending opportunities for growth and innovation within our marketing strategies.
● Opportunity to assist in the planning and implementation of special events.
● Demonstrated ability to communicate proficiently; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Self-motivated and project-oriented with strong commitment to customer service.
● Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to successfully coordinate and facilitate projects independently and with limited supervision. Proven competence in managing
multiple tasks and competing priorities.
● Writing and sending recognition and appreciation communications to sponsors.
● Ability to adhere to CAP branding guidelines.

● Computer skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation programs as well as a general knowledge of graphic design (Canva, Publisher, etc.)

● Must have an automobile and ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
● Must pass a criminal background check

Summer Recreation Intern

The CAP Intern is responsible for assisting the CAP Director and administrative team in managing and developing a working recreation department. The intern will gain experience in overseeing the daily operations of a recreational program including scheduling, purchasing, budgeting, and program development. The primary area will be youth baseball and softball where they will assist in scheduling umpires and fields, field maintenance, facilitating leagues, and working with the public on a daily basis. Students who are currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate students may apply. CAP CARE Assistant Teacher
General Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of Childcare Operations, the CAP CARE Assistant Teacher’s primary function is to assist in the daily operation of CAP CARE and Day Camp. Assistant Teachers will be at least a minimum of 18 years old, and be able to work well in a collaborative environment supporting the purpose of CAP CARE which is to provide a safe and educational environment in which children are free to be active, creative and have fun. CAP CARE and Day Camp provide programing for students in grades 4K-4th grade.
General Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position.
- Maintains a positive and safe atmosphere for all attendees and families
- Help implement curriculum
- Assist in daily operations which could include, checking children in and out of the facility, preparing and assisting with snack times, providing positive direction for activities, communication with parents and staff
- Help maintain goals for the children
- Perform daily cleaning duties.
- Physically able to stand, walk, stoop, and reach. Able to lift, carry, pushing, pulling 10 lbs or less. Able to handle, grasp, chairs, recreational equipment, arts and craft materials
- Works varying hours between 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with approximately 15-20 hours a week
- Compliance and enforcement of all CAP CARE policies and procedures.
- Attends scheduled staff meetings.
- Performs all other duties as required.
- Must meet State of WI, code DCF 251, qualifications for a Child Care Assistant Teacher.
Hours and Dates:
Position is part time / maximum 20 hours a week / between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Registry level preferred
- Shaken baby syndrome training

- This position is a part time hourly position with the opportunity for additional wage increases based on specific classes, education and certifications.

Youth Center Supervisor
General Description:
Under the supervision of the Youth Center Director, the Youth Center Supervisor’s primary function is to assist in the daily operation of the Cambridge Area Youth Center. Supervisor will be at least a minimum of 18 years old, and be able to work well in a collaborative environment supporting the purpose of the youth center which is to provide a free drop in after school program to Cambridge students in grades 5-8.
General Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
Principle Activities:
- Assist in supervising all operations of the youth center.
- Create youth center activities and special events.
- Maintain a positive and safe atmosphere for all center youth.
- Assist in programming activities for youth.
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment for the center, including daily cleaning and periodic maintenance.
- Assist in supervision of youth trips, after hours, and other programs as applicable.
- Maintain regular communication with Youth Center Director regarding youth activities and behavior.
- Assist in implementation of fundraising events and activities.
- Responsible for Youth Center operations with other Youth Center staff and volunteers when Director is not on site.
- Observe, enforce and be able to explain all Youth Center rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned by the Youth Center Director.
Hours and Dates:
Position is part time / hours vary depending on season / M-F school year 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, summer school 12-4, July 5- Aug 25 Tuesdays & Thursdays 9-4pm. Additional hours available for trips and after hour events.
Qualifications:

Compensation:

Candidates must be trustworthy and willing to assist any and all other park staff. Ideal candidates will posses current CPR and first aid certificates.

- Assist with shelter rentals and groups
- Assist with inventory management
- Ability to count and handle money
- Ability to use a POS system for sales
- Ability to assist with grounds and park cleanliness
- Must be able to administer first aid if needed
- Must be able to monitor guests and to uphold rules & policies
- Must be able to monitor employees and to uphold rules & policies
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be motivated and have a positive attitude

Seasonal employment starting May 15- September 5. Shifts and days vary. Open daily from 9am-8pm

- Perform minor plumbing and light maintenance
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be motivated and have a positive attitude
- Assist all other park staff as needed
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor

Hours and days vary. Mornings 6:30am-10:30am, Evenings 6-9pm daily Seasonally April-November
