Who We Are
The Cambridge Community Activities Program (CAP) is a robust, non-profit recreation-focused organization. The organization’s mission is to encourage and promote life-long wellness by providing a variety of high-quality recreational activities, learning opportunities, aquatics programs, and services to the broad Cambridge area community. Cambridge CAP manages and operates an indoor community pool, an 18-acre beachfront park, a state-licensed before and after childcare facility, a food pantry, a youth center, youth sports, and many other recreational programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
- Leads the robust organization which includes: Cambridge Area Community Pool, Ripley Park, CAP CARE, the Youth Center, the Cambridge Area Food Pantry & Resource Center, Cambridge Community Fitness Center, special events, youth and adult athletics, and other recreation programs.
- Works effectively with the Board of Directors and Cambridge School District.
- Provides strategic planning for the organization.
- Ongoing evaluation of the program’s effectiveness and where opportunities exist for improvement and devotes time accordingly.
- Develops and administers a budget exceeding a million dollars.
- Recruits, hires, and manages staff. Responsible for the direct supervision of 4 full-time staff, 1 part-time staff, and the indirect supervision of more than 90 part-time or seasonal employees. Supervises, coordinates, trains, and evaluates recreation staff in the development and implementation of community recreation programs; supervises instructors and volunteers as needed. Plans and leads team meetings. Understands the difference between management and leadership and is skilled in both areas.
- Establishes and enforces policies and procedures.
- Anticipates changing conditions and leads the organization in evolving and adapting to community needs.
- Works collaboratively and maintains positive relationships with school officials, community leaders and organizations, and the general public; responsive to public concerns.
- Effectively directs and manages a wide range of programs, projects, and tasks simultaneously while at the same time not losing sight of important issues and organizational goals.
- Oversees the development of program marketing.
- Maintains and compiles records for the organization.
- Manages district facilities calendar and coordinates community use of district facilities.
- Attends district administration meetings.
- Coordination of special events including: Try Cambridge Tri, Lake Ripley Ride, Cambridge Harvest Festival, Touch-a-Truck, Breakfast with Santa, and Adopt-a-Child.
- Oversight of program interns.
- Maintain program website and social media presence.
- Utilizes online registration system for program registration.
- Active participant in Cambridge Wellness Collaborative.
- Works with an accounting firm to prepare and file the organization’s tax documents.
- Acts as a spokesperson on behalf of the organization.
- Prepares and delivers CAP Annual Report to the Board of Education and community.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Sport Management, or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in parks and recreation planning and supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Master’s degree desired.
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional preferred.
- Knowledge of non-profit rules and regulations preferred.
- Experience leading people with a strong team orientation.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is desired.
- The following knowledge, experience, and skills desired:
- Time management & organization.
- Skills and ability to promote, implement, and supervise recreation programs.
- Knowledge and experience in park, pool, and facility operations.
- Customer service skills
- Considerable knowledge of computer applications, including but not limited to MS Excel, Google Drive, RecDesk and QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of social media and website maintenance.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with coworkers, subordinates, program participants, and the public.
- Comfortable working independently and working within a team atmosphere.
- Experience in communicating both verbally and in writing in order to promote recreation programs to the community.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to travel throughout the community.
- Employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions during all seasons of the year.
- Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license from the State of Wisconsin.
- Reports to the Board of Directors and the Board of Education. Office is located at the Cambridge High School; however, duties will include travel to other district facilities, Ripley Park, and throughout the community.
Hours and Dates: Position is a salaried position and is expected to work 40 -45 hours per week. Starting salary $80,000 - 85,000 with excellent competitive benefits including the WRS.

Youth Center Lead Teacher
General Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of Childcare Operations, the CAP CARE Co-Teacher’s primary function is to assist in the daily operation of CAP CARE and Day Camp. Co-Teachers will be at least a minimum of 18 years old, and be able to work well in a collaborative environment supporting the purpose of CAP CARE which is to provide a safe and educational environment in which children are free to be active, creative and have fun. CAP CARE and Day Camp provide programing for students in grades 3K-4th grade.
General Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position.
- Maintains a positive and safe atmosphere for all attendees and families
- Develop and maintain group goals for students if at the Youth Center
- Assist in developing curriculum and activities for students
- Assist in planning After Hours events and summer trips for students
- Assist in daily operations which could include, checking children in & out of the facility, preparing & assisting with snack, providing positive direction for activities, communication with parents & staff
- Perform daily cleaning duties
- Physically able to stand, walk, stoop, and reach. Able to lift, carry, pushing, pulling 10 lbs or less. Able to handle, grasp, chairs, recreational equipment, arts and craft materials
- Works varying hours between 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.with approximately 10-15 hours a week
- Compliance and enforcement of all Youth Center policies and procedures.
Hours and Dates:
Position is part time / 10-15 hours a week / between the hours of 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Additional hours available if cross trained at CAP CARE
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have completed high school or its equivalent
- Have at least 320 hrs. of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a group child care center
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, or certified within 3 months of hire
- Additional childcare or school age care courses are prefered
Compensation:
- Competitive pay- $14.00-$19.00 per hour based on education and experience
- Flexible Hours- willing to work around family and education schedules
- Continuing Education- CAP CARE will pay for some continuing education if cross trained at CAP CARE

Position is part time / 15-25 hours a week / between the hours of 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have completed high school or its equivalent
- Have at least 320 hrs. of experience as an assistant child care teacher in a group child care center
- Either two courses for credit in early childhood education or two non-credit department-approved courses
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, or certified within 3 months of hire
- Shaken baby syndrome training, or completed the training prior to working with children

- Perform general maintenance duties
- Paint grills, picnic tables, shelters, etc.
- Perform minor plumbing and light maintenance
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be motivated and have a positive attitude
- Assist all other park staff as needed
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Competitive pay- $15.00-$18.00 per hour based on experience
