The CAP CARE Before and After School Program program is part of a state licensed group child care facility that provides enrichment based, wrap around care and programming for children 4K-4th grade. CAP CARE is located in the Cambridge Elementary School. Our curriculum and activities are in alignment with the YoungStar and the School Age Curricular Framework. This program is designed to give children an opportunity to explore, invent, discover, create, share, and learn with other children. Every class will be divided into structured and open ended learning while focusing on fun. Free play, circle time, music, art, enrichment, story time, and movement will be incorporated every week in various ways.
Play based learning
Children are naturally motivated to play. A play-based program builds on this motivation, using play as a context for learning. In this context, children can explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. A play-based approach involves both child-initiated and teacher-supported learning. We will encourage children’s learning and inquiry through interactions that aim to stretch their thinking to higher levels. For example, while children are playing with blocks, a teacher can pose questions that encourage problem solving, prediction and hypothesizing. The teacher can also bring the child’s awareness towards mathematics, science and literacy concepts, allowing them to engage with such concepts through hands-on learning.
Fees and attendance
One time initial $30 registration fee per child. Payment of this fee secures your child's spot for the upcoming enrollment
$4.75 per hour
Participants must provide their own lunch on no school days
Participants must attend a minimum of four times per week
CAP CARE accepts check, cash, credit card, or Wisconsin Shares
Attendance is not required for Day Camp in order to maintain your spot for CAP CARE

Monday- Friday
Before School 6:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. on late start Wednesday
After School 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
* CAP CARE will operate on all non-school days except for major holidays. The hours of care will be 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
* CAP CARE will NOT operate during emergency closings for the school district due to weather
* CAP CARE may be closed for a period of time at the end of the summer (this time will be announced in February)
